Advancing Policy Planning through Statistical Data and Digital Analytics in the DRC

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the adoption of digital tools for data collection and policy planning is beginning to reshape how local and national authorities design and implement development strategies.

In Sud-Kivu, provincial institutions have piloted digital dashboards to monitor the performance of infrastructure projects funded by local taxes. These dashboards help visualize timelines, budget disbursements, and project status, enabling better coordination between departments.

Nationally, the Institut National de la Statistique (INS) is collaborating with international partners to modernize the country’s data architecture, with a particular focus on digital surveys and geo-referenced data. This initiative is critical for accurate population tracking, service delivery planning, and progress reporting on sustainable development goals.

In post-conflict areas such as Ituri, real-time data collection is supporting humanitarian actors and government agencies in designing targeted recovery programs based on needs assessments.

This data-driven approach strengthens transparency, facilitates evidence-based decision-making, and allows both local and central governments to be more responsive to dynamic social and economic contexts.
